Tour Plans

Day 1

Hosea Kutaku International Airport ( 34 km ) Nankuse Lodge Namibia

Your guide will pick you up from the airport and take you to Nankuse Lodge in a short 40-minute drive. Naankuse Lodge & Wildlife Sanctuary is located in a 3,200-hectare reserve. It offers a wide range of activities as well as a stunning atmosphere and surroundings.

Naankuse Lodge is a wildlife foundation in Namibia; all profits from the lodge go back into the charity projects. Naankuse supports the local San community, and the activities are led by the local San. Volunteers who want to help with conservation can join the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer program. The program offers volunteers the rare and exciting opportunity to work closely with African wildlife and actively participate in conservation.

Day 2

Nankuse Lodge Namibia ( 305 km ) Bagatelle Kalahari Game Range

Before departure, we embark on a life-changing experience as we come face to face and walk side by side with Africa’s most fastest land animal. The cheetah! The cheetah is a large cat. The cheetah is capable of running at 93 to 104 km/h; it has evolved specialised adaptations for speed, including a light build, long, thin legs and a long tail.

Arriving at Bagatelle Kalahari Range, we will have a relaxing late afternoon, explore the Kalahari Desert. Located on the edge of the southern Kalahari in the mixed tree and shrub savannah, the lodge is crisscrossed by huge red sand dunes. We attach great importance to the preservation of nature and its living beings, so you can experience numerous species of animals and plants up close with us. Watch antelopes, springboks, zebras, ostriches, meerkats or cheetahs up close. Or let the authentic Bushmen introduce you to their ancient traditions.

Day 3

Bagatelle Kalahari Game Range

Before breakfast, we join a local guide on a bush walk. The walk lasts about an hour and focuses on the beauty of the culture and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. The ancestors of the Sān hunter-gatherers are said to have been the first inhabitants of what is now Botswana and South Africa. The historical presence of the San in Botswana is particularly evident in the Tsodilo Hills region of northern Botswana.

The afternoon brings us another adventure. The thrill of spotting wildlife amid magical red dunes, and then a cool sundowner. We watched springboks galloping across the veld with arched backs and stiff legs, hitting the ground with all four hooves at the same time, which seems an impossible feat. This is the thirst land, a place of thorn trees, huge weaver bird nests and creatures adapted to life in the red sand dunes.

Day 4

Bagatelle Game Range ( 258 km ) Hammerstein Lodge

After breakfast, we head to Hammerstein Lodge. Hammerstein Lodge offers the opportunity to relax and recharge thanks to its multi-faceted approach, which is based on decades in the hospitality industry. Hammerstein Lodge is located between the Nubib and Tsaris mountains. A few kilometers from the lodge is a massive rock outcrop made of granite blocks, including a boulder that looks like a large hammer. It is from this area that Hammerstein gets its name.

The afternoon nature drive was reserved for us, where you have the opportunity to see absolutely stunning landscapes, white rhinos, oryx antelopes, springboks, kudus, giraffes and others, and discover how the earth is dotted with termite mounds. “Termites organise themselves and build the mound by using saliva to stick grains of sand together one by one,” he said. “The queen is only there for reproduction, not to control or direct the termites.”

Day 5

Hammerstein Lodge ( 107km ) Namib 1 Night

This morning we have a very early start for our guided excursion to Sossusvlei. We want to leave our lodge well before sunrise to ensure we are one of the first to enter the national park. From Sesriem, we continue into the desert area where the early morning light provides excellent photography opportunities. Once we arrive at the 4x4 parking area, we can explore this area on foot, with a walk around Dead Vlei and Sossusvlei.

We should be back at our lodge before 3 pm, where a local guide will be waiting to take us in an open jeep to Namib Dune Camp. Namib 1 Night is located in the dunes of the Namib Desert. The nine-hut camp offers an "out-in-the-desert" experience with luxurious amenities such as a plush double bed that can be rolled out when guests want to sleep on the veranda and under the stars.

Day 6

Namib 1 Night (350km) Plaza Hotel

Namibia is a land of contrasts. Today, we move from the desert to the sea. On our way, we cross the Tropic of Capricorn and pass through the Gaub and Kuiseb passes, driving down to the dry riverbed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side and seeing the spectacular desert landscape spread out before us. Once on the coast, we stop in Walvis Bay to enjoy the sight of the flamingos and other birds in the lagoons.

We spend the night in Swakopmund. Swakopmund is a very pleasant coastal town with many shops, a nice stretch of beach (although the Atlantic is quite cold here) and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum, and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund. Alternatively, various optional activities can be arranged.

Day 7

Swakopmund – Plaza Hotel

The rest of the day will be free with plenty of time to explore the town. Swakopmund is a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach (although the Atlantic is quite cold here) and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum, and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund. Alternatively, there are various optional activities that can be arranged.

These include a boat-tour (with oysters and champagne!), scenic flights and micro-light flights over the desert, fishing trips (either from the beach or in a boat), quad-bike trips into the desert and over the sand dunes around Swakopmund, sandboarding, skydiving and many other activities. Your guide will discuss all the possible optional activities with you and offer to make pre-bookings in advance. (N.B. all extra activities in Swakopmund are subject to availability and are made at the client's own risk and expense). Dinner today is not included in the cost of the safari and will be at the client's own expense.

Day 8

Swakopmund - 161km + Spitzkope + 130 km - Brandberg White Lady Lodge

After a 2-hour drive, we take a short day trip to Spitzkoppe before continuing to our destination. Spitzkoppe (German for "pointed dome"; also called Spitzkop, Groot Spitzkop or the "Matterhorn of Namibia") is a group of bare granite peaks or inselbergs between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib Desert of Namibia. The granite is over 120 million years old, and the highest outcrop rises about 1,728 meters above sea level. The peaks stand out dramatically from the flat surrounding plains. The highest peak is about 670 meters above the floor of the desert below.

After lunch, we take a 2-hour dive to our destination at Brandbeg Mountain. The highest point of the Brandberg, the Königstein, is 2,573 m above sea level and is located in the flat gravel plain of the Namib. On clear days, it can be seen from afar.

Day 9

Brandberg White Lady Lodge (142 km), Damara Mopane Lodge

We wake up to the smell of good coffee and a great breakfast. We continue our journey through the famous part of Damaraland. Twyfelfontein is a rocky site in the Kunene region in northwestern Namibia. The site contains around 2,000 rock drawings and is one of the largest and most significant collections of rock art in Africa. It was declared a national monument in 1952. It is estimated that up to 40,000 people a year now visit the site, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Namibia.

The Damara Living Museum near Twyfelfontein is the first traditional Damara project in Namibia and the only one of its kind (art). The opportunity to get to know traditional Damara culture in this form is not available anywhere else in Namibia or in the world.

Day 10

Damara Mopane Lodge ( 182 km ) Etosha Safari Camp

The visit to the Himba village is planned after breakfast. The Himba OmuHimba, OvaHimba are an ethnic group with an estimated population of about 50,000 people living in northern Namibia, in the Kunene region (former Kaokoland) and across the Kunene River in southern Angola. Some remaining groups of the OvaTwa consider the OvaHimba part of their tribe, but are hunter-gatherers. Culturally distinguishable from the Herero, the OvaHimba are a semi-nomadic, pastoral people and speak OtjiHimba, a variant of Herero belonging to the Niger-Congo Bantu family. The OvaHimba are semi-nomadic in that they have base farms where crops are grown, but must move within the year depending on rainfall and water access.

The OvaHimba are considered the last (semi-)nomadic people of Namibia

Day 11

Etosha National Park

Today, we explore the park and increase our chances of amazing wildlife sightings. We start with a morning game drive before breakfast (breakfast packs). These waterholes are one of the most unique aspects of Etosha National Park and a major attraction for wildlife photographers and animal behaviour experts, as the different species of animals, both predators and prey, can often be captured drinking at the same waterhole (on camera).

Etosha National Park is a national park in northwestern Namibia and one of the largest national parks in Africa. It was declared a game reserve in March 1907. It covers an area of 22,270 km² and was named after the great Etosha Pan, which lies almost entirely within the park. With an area of 4,760 km², Etosha Pan covers 23% of the total area of the national park. The area is home to hundreds of mammal, bird and reptile species, including several threatened and endangered species such as the black rhinoceros.

Day 12

Etosha

A full day in the Park lies ahead of us. Etosha’s animals depend on artificial waterholes and natural springs. Explore the various waterholes along this enormous saltpan, which is called the “great white place of dry water” in a local language. Lunch stop at one of the rest camps. Encounter a big variety of wildlife in the Park during the morning. More than 114 mammal species are found in the Park, several of them are rare and endangered, like the black rhino of the black faced impala. You have a great chance of seeing some of the bigger animals, like elephants and rhinos and of course, a highlight in any safari, the predators.

Day 13

Etosha National Park ( 226km ) Waterberg Guest Farm

After breakfast, we continue to the Waterberg Wilderness Plateau Park and set off on a game drive to the southern exit of Etosha National Park.

The Waterberg Plateau Park is a national park in central Namibia that includes the Waterberg Plateau. The Waterberg Plateau is a particularly striking landscape, high above the plains of the Kalahari in eastern Namibia. The plateau and about 405 km² of surrounding land were declared a nature reserve in 1972. The plateau is largely inaccessible, so several species that were endangered in Namibia were relocated there in the early 1970s to protect them from predators and poaching and to save them from extinction. The program was very successful, and Waterberg now believes in other Namibian parks with rare species. In 1989, black rhinos were reintroduced to the area from Damaraland, starting a successful breeding program of national and international importance for this species.
